The island of Kefalonia, in Greece, is one of the Greek islands of the Ionian Sea and it belongs to the Ionian islands group. Because of its large size, Kefalonia island has many tourist places with a wide variety of accommodation. The larger towns, Argostoli and Lixouri, have nice city hotels, but the majority of accommodation is concentrated in the coastal regions. On the southern side, Skala, Sami, Lourdas, Lassi and Svoronata have many hotels in close distance to the beach. Most accommodations on the northern side are found in Fiscardo and Assos, while nice places to stay in the peninsula of Lixouri is the beach of Xi. Generally accommodations in Kefalonia are family and traditional venues. Few resorts have upscale facilities, like pools, jacuzzi and spa treatments. Nice private villas with view to the Ionian Sea are also found, particularly in the region between Skala and Poros.
