Meganisi

Meganisi is a small island with lush greenery and blue green waters. It is located just opposite the port of Nydri in Lefkada. This is why holidays in Meganisi can easily be combined with Lefkada. There is no bus on this small island of the Ionian Sea and all transport has to be done by foot or private means, like boat or motorbike. Few hotels also arrange shuttle bus itineraries to some beaches around the island. Vathy and Spartohori are the main villages on the island, where most studios are found. The island of Meganisi, in Greece, is one of the Greek islands of the Ionian Sea and it belongs to the Ionian islands group. There are many small and magnificent beaches in Meganisi island. Agios Ioannis, Spilia, Barbarezou and Fanari are the most frequented, while many other crystal coves around the island can be reached by boat. The most picturesque village of Meganisi is Vathy, a nice port village lined up with fish taverns and cafeterias. Many private yachts and boats moor in Vathy in summer, giving to the place a cosmopolitan feeling. Sightseeing during your Meganisi holidays is few, apart from some nice chapels scattered here and there. There are also not many things to do, except for swimming and hiking. This is a great place for just relaxing on the beach.

Most accommodation in Meganisi is concentrated in the two ports of the island, Spartochori and Vathy. These villages offer traditional apartments and self-catering rooms with simple facilities. A luxurious hotel with pool is also found in Meganisi island, while some private villas with pools and sea view have been constructed over the last years in the countryside.
